Established in 1980, the institute has a rich history of academic excellence, previously being a part of Rajendra Agricultural University and Bihar Agriculture University.

Campus Life & Facilities
Advanced Laboratories
The institute houses six well-equipped laboratories for Dairy Technology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Business Management, Engineering, and a central fine instrument lab for practicals and research.
Modern Classrooms
All classrooms are air-conditioned and equipped with audio-visual presentation tools. A new lecture theatre complex with a mini-auditorium is also available for seminars and events.
Library & Information Hub
The library provides access to national and international journals, textbooks, and research materials through CeRA. A central university library offers an even larger collection.
Hostel Accommodation
Adequate and separate hostel facilities are available for both boys and girls, with attached sports facilities like volleyball and badminton courts. New hostels are also under construction.
Computer & Language Labs
A well-equipped computer center with LAN and broadband internet is available. A dedicated Language Lab helps students improve their communication skills.
Conference & Auditorium
A fully air-conditioned conference hall with a seating capacity of 60 and a new auditorium with a capacity of 175 are available for meetings, seminars, and college events.

How to Get Admission?
- Qualify Entrance Exam: Appear and secure a valid rank in JEE (Main) for PCM/PCMB streams or NEET for the PCB stream.
- Register for Counselling: Register for the Under Graduate Engineering Admission Counselling (UGEAC) on the BCECE Board's official website.
- Choice Filling: Select B.Tech (Dairy Technology) or B.Tech (Food Technology) at SGIDT, Patna, as your preference during online choice filling.
- Seat Allotment: Seats are allocated based on your entrance exam rank, category, and filled choices.
- Document Verification: Report to the institute with all original documents for verification and pay the admission fee to confirm your seat.
