Patna Women's College, founded in 1940 by Bishop B.J. Sullivan S.J. and Mother M. Josephine A.C., was the first institution to cater to the higher educational needs of women in Bihar. It stands as a testament to the vision of its founders, who believed that the upliftment of the region lay in empowering its women through education.

Conducted by the Sisters of the Apostolic Carmel, the college became a constituent college of Patna University in 1952 but retains its special character as a Religious Minority College. It is renowned for its commitment to academic and creative arts, social service, and leadership development.

Admission Process & Documents

How to Get Admission?

  1. Apply Online: Fill out the application form available on the official college website from February 1, 2025.
  2. Appear for Entrance Test: Eligible candidates must appear for the offline Entrance Test scheduled for their respective programmes.
  3. Check Merit List: Admission is granted strictly based on the merit list prepared after the Entrance Test/Interview.
  4. Document Verification & Fee Payment: Selected candidates must report to the college for document verification and fee payment to confirm their admission.

  • Qualifying Examination Admit Card (for appearing candidates)
  • Qualifying Examination Marksheet (for pass-out candidates)
  • Caste Certificate (SC/ST/BC-I/BC-II), if applicable, issued by C.O./S.D.O./D.M.
  • Baptism Certificate (for Christian candidates)
  • Photo ID Proof (Aadhaar Card, etc.)
  • Passport-size Photographs

Eligibility Criteria

  • For B.A. & B.Sc. (Hons.): Candidates must obtain not less than 45% marks in the subject opted for Honours study in the +2 or equivalent examination.
  • For B.Com. (Hons.): Candidates must have passed +2 in Commerce with at least 45% marks, OR in Arts/Science with at least 50% marks in aggregate.
  • For AMM, BCA, BBA, MBIO, BMC, ECM (Hons.): Candidates must obtain not less than 50% marks (General/BC-I/BC-II/EWS) and 45% (SC/ST).
  • For BCA (Hons.): Candidates must have passed I.Sc. with Mathematics.
  • For Economics (Hons.): Candidates must have passed with Mathematics at the Intermediate/+2 level.

Note: Compartment/failed candidates will not be considered for admission even if they qualify in the Entrance Test.
