Named after the thrice Chief Minister of Bihar, Late Bhola Paswan Shastri, BPSAC Purnea is a centre of excellence for agricultural science, research, and extension in the Koshi region.

About the College

Bhola Paswan Shastri Agricultural College (BPSAC) is situated at Purnea City on 84 Ha of land. The Department of Agriculture, Govt. of Bihar established a Seed Multiplication Farm here in 1958. Later, it was realized that research and education were needed for the development of agriculture in this Koshi Region.

The college was established on June 16, 2010. The campus infrastructure, including the Administrative building, Hostels, Staff quarters, Sports complex, and Auditorium, was inaugurated by Hon’ble CM Sri Nitish Kumar on August 10, 2015.

The college is named after the famous personality, social reformer, and thrice Chief Minister of Bihar, Late Bhola Paswan Shastri, who hailed from Kajha village of Purnea district. It offers a B.Sc. (Hons) in Agriculture under Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour, and is accredited by ICAR up to March 15, 2025.

Admission Process & Documents

How to Get In?

  1. Appear for Entrance Exam: Secure a valid rank in the Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination (BCECE) for 85% state quota seats.
  2. ICAR AIEEA (15% Quota): Alternatively, appear for the All India Entrance Examination (AIEEA) conducted by ICAR for 15% all-India quota seats.
  3. Register for Counselling: Participate in the respective online counselling process for BCECE or ICAR based on your rank.
  4. Choice Filling: Select "Bhola Paswan Shastri Agricultural College, Purnea" as your preference during counselling.
  5. Seat Allotment & Reporting: Based on rank and choice, a seat will be allotted. Report to the institute for document verification and fee payment to confirm admission.

Eligibility Criteria (Undergraduate)

  • Candidates must have passed 10+2 (Intermediate/I.Sc.) or an equivalent examination.
  • Required subjects: Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) OR Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) OR Physics, Chemistry, and Agriculture (PCA).
  • Must be from a recognized Indian Board / University.
