Maulana Mazharul Haque Arabic and Persian University (MMHAPU), Patna, was established on 10th April 1998 under the Bihar State Universities Act, 1976. As a state public university, its jurisdiction covers the entire state of Bihar.
The university is recognized under section 2(f) of the UGC Act 1956 and has been a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) since December 2009.
