Maulana Mazharul Haque was a distinguished legal luminary, statesman, and educationist who became a pivotal figure in India's freedom struggle alongside Mahatma Gandhi. A firm believer in national unity, he famously stated, "whether we are Hindus or Mussalmans we are in the same boat. We must sail or sink together." This university was founded to carry forward his vision of accessible, modern, and secular education for all.
History & Recognition
Maulana Mazharul Haque Arabic and Persian University (MMHAPU), Patna, was established on 10th April 1998, under the Bihar State Universities Act, 1976. Its jurisdiction extends across the entire state of Bihar. The university is recognized under section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956, and became a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi, in December 2009. It uniquely blends traditional courses in Arabic, Persian, and Urdu with modern, professional programs to meet contemporary educational demands.
